Old 2 New:: Ladder Display Shelf

We've all seen those gorgeous ladder shelves in Pottery Barn or Ballard Design. They may look pretty, but their price tag isn't always pretty.

Brittany over at Pretty Handy Girl felt the same way. She wanted a ladder shelf, but didn't want to pay several hundred dollars.

For $15, she found this Habitat ReStore ladder and had a vision of turning it into her very own ladder shelf.

She cut pine boards to fit in the ladder to use for the shelving and added little strips of wood to the back. You'll need to be sure and stain your wood the same color as your ladder.

After attaching the pieces of board to the ladder (and a few other steps in between), here's what you have!

I love it! I actually like that this has more character than the ladder shelving you would buy in a store or catalog.

Check out her blog for the full step by step tutorial.

I'm adding this project on my list of things I want to do in our new place when we move.

Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend! Anybody have any fun Halloween plans?
