Another Addiction:: Houzz

I think by now everyone is aware of {and obsessed} with Pinterest. Pinterest is great for collecting ideas in various categories. Some love it just to find new recipes, while others love it for fashion inspiration.

For me, I mainly use Pinterest for decorating/diy inspiration. Since your 'pins' are linked back to the original blog/website, it's great for finding full tutorials on how to re-create what you've seen. But, sometimes I just want to peruse lots of pretty home design images for inspiration.

At times, it can almost be too overwhelming with the amount of stuff on Pinterest. It sometimes takes some sorting to get through the things you aren't interested in. Anybody else feel this way?

In comes Houzz. If you love just browsing for decorating inspiration and don't want to wade through other things, this site will become your new addiction!

With Houzz you have 'ideabooks' instead of 'pinboards.' And instead of 'repinning' you just 'add to ideabook.' Just like Pinterest though, you can add the bookmarklet to your web browser and add images to your ideabook from any website you find.

To give you an idea, here are all my ideabooks.

Photobucket

It is a site strictly full of home design images. Instead of browsing by category like Pinterest, you browse by space. You can also narrow it down to a specific style, and only browse images that fit your taste {maybe you just like traditional stuff or maybe you are a bit eclectic}. It's all there!

Photobucket

You can also see images from actual homes in your city. For example, there are 1,665 design photos from homes here in Nashville.

Photobucket

It's also great for helping re-create a look you see or finding the actual items in the room. For example, if you see an image of a bedroom you like, over to the right are related products that fit that style of room and you're able to see where you can purchase them.

Some images will also have these green tags on certain items.

You just click on the tag and it will tell you where you can buy it and how much it will cost.

Houzz will also populate related or similar images/style once you add an image to your ideabook. Those images will appear on the right hand side.

Now that I've showed you a little bit about how Houzz works, let me show you examples of some amazing images & inspiration you can find from the site.

Can you see why it's my new addiction??

Don't get me wrong, I still love Pinterest and will continue using it. But, I'm also loving the additional inspiration that Houzz provides!

Just like Pinterest, you can follow other people's ideabooks and add any images you see from their books into your own book. You can find my ideabooks here. If you're on Houzz, would love to know your username and follow you back!

P.S. I think I used the word Pinterest about a million times in this post. Oops!

Happy Friday!
