Wednesday Inspiration:: Guest Bedroom Moodboard

Have you heard of Olioboard?

I've seen it popping up around blogland lately. Olioboard is a moodboard creator. I've used Picasa to create moodboards in the past, but Olioboard takes it to a whole other level. You can search for tons of decor/furniture pieces within the site and also upload your own images.

You can even re-create exactly what the room will look like. Here's a few fun examples::

My mom asked me the other day about helping her decorate some of the rooms in their house. One of the rooms is a guest bedroom. It has a hodge podge of furniture including my old college apartment bedframe and nightstand and my dressers from my nursery when I was little.

So, I thought it would be fun to create a moodboard to give her an idea of what we could do with the room. Now, mine isn't nearly as elaborate as the ones above. Keep in mind, it was my first time :)

Here's what I came up with::

Her current bedding in the room is sage green and brown. With the walls being a beige color, I thought the room could use a punch of color with orange pillows and curtains.

After Caroline transformed the same dresser, I suggested to her that we just paint her existing furniture. I love the finish on this piece that was painted with chalk paint.

I also love the idea of using glaze. Here's an example of someone that used glaze and also added a distressed look. They also kept the original hardware and finished it off with some oil rubbed bronze.
My mom also mentioned having to buy a whole new bed frame. To save money though, I suggested making a headboard. I showed her some of these images of mantles being used as headboards.

So, what do you think?

The artwork over the mantle is a Red Letter Words piece. I've always loved their Scripture prints so I figured this would be a good excuse to finally get one. :)

Hopefully this moodboard will serve as a jumping off point.

I have a feeling Olioboard is going to become my next addiction, next to Pinterest!

Have you used Olioboard?
